Abstract Text:
A third regime of stability was observed for ideal ballooning mode in the presence of toroidal rotation. This is different from the conventional s-alpha diagram of the ideal balloooning mode which has only second region of stability. The physical implication of this novel finding is that in the outer edge region of the cross-section plasma can enter into a regime of stability which is otherwise unstable by the prediction of the conventional theory. This new mechanism might be crucial for the high-beta operation of the tolamak.
