Abstract Text:
Magnetic fluctuation diagnostic coils have been installed to measure Bz component at the edge of MCX mid-plane. The MCX is an experiment to test the centrifugal confinement for controlled thermonuclear fusion. This evenly spaced 8 coils array allows resolution of magnetic perturbation up to m=4. The dominant modes show sawteeth-like fluctuations in regular plasma run in MCX which has the transition from H mode to O mode. We also directly measure the phase velocity of rotating magnetic fluctuation, and auto and cross correlation from each coil signal. The local dispersion relation gives us local m mode number which is the function of frequency. The data from edge coil array indicate that the magnetic fluctuation property varies considerably between various MCX operating modes. We represent data showing the property of magnetic fluctuation at the edge of MCX which is related to the instability inside MCX.
