Abstract Text:
Tech-X Corporation is currently developing tools for modeling magneto-intertial fusion (MIF) and high energy density plasmas. This poster presents recent results in modeling plasma jets for magneto inertial fusion using Tech-X’s new fluid code TxFluids. In order to properly deal with the plasma vacuum interface a combination of high order numerical methods with first order positivity conserving methods have been used in and Eulerian frame. The method has been applied to the MHD equations. Results using these methods to model plasma jet interaction and implosion of simple magnetized targets in regimes relevant to the new plasma jet liner experiment at LANL are presented. Directions for future research are also discussed.
